How To Update WordPress Post Date in Bulk
Changing the multi-post publish date or modified post date is a simple task in the WordPress bulk post editing plugin. It can be changed in less than a minute even for thousands of posts at the same time. This means you are able to change publish date on your blog via the WordPress change post date plugin (WordPress bulk post-editing)
If your website is on WordPress and wants to change the Media/Page/Post Date & Time In Bulk for thousands of blog posts in one click, then this article is for you. WordPress doesn’t offer such a feature, but it can be done with the help of a plugin.
A website contains a massive number of content and with time it keeps on increasing with new content. But in publishing new content, we forget to update the previously posted articles, which is not a good practice.

The plugin author recommends using the modified date feature over the Published date, as it is more search engine friendly. And, I do agree with him. However, a lot of netizens suggest using this feature with a pinch of salt, as this could lead to a loss in traffic too.
However, for specific websites, and evergreen, this plugin could be beneficial.
The plugin is simple, free, and easy to use. Once you have installed the plugin (here is the link), head over to WordPress settings > Bulk post update date, and you would see the following configuration screen:

Once you are ready, hit the update post dates button, and the plugin will take care of the rest.
As I mentioned at the start, this plugin should be used only when you know what you are doing. It may not work for every kind of WordPress blog and could be bad for SEO.
In fact, for a long time, I have used another plugin called “Limit modified date”, which helps us to prevent updating time stamps when we are making minor changes to an already published blog post.
How do I use this plugin?
I have a WordPress blog in an evergreen niche, where the content is never outdated. I often use this plugin to add freshness to the “Modified date”, and it gives more confidence to the readers, as it seems like a post is new and relevant. Again, this would work only in the evergreen niche.
1. Search the plugin name and Bulk edit publish date on the Add Plugins page.
2. Install and activate the plugin.
3. The plugin adds a bulk action to all post types that allows the admin to set the publish date to a specific date time.
How To Update WordPress Post Date in Bulk
follow the below steps:
Step 1: Filter multi posts at the same time
As we discussed before, to filter multi posts at the same time you can use the “Filter Form” or “Quick Search” fields in our plugin.
In this tutorial, we need to change the multi-post publish date of those posts published under the “Lifestyle” or “Food” categories.
So, we use the “Filter Form” as below:
- Open the “Categories / Tags / Taxonomies” tab in the “Filter Form”.
- Select “OR” from the “condition” box.
- Select “Lifestyle” and “Food” from the “Selection” list.
- Click on the “Get products” button.
Step 2: Add columns
To better track the changes we are going to make by changing multi-post published or modified dates, we are going to add those columns to our post table from the “Column Profiles” form.
Although this is not a necessary step for using bulk edit and you can ignore it in this part, however, if you want to change multi-post published or modified date by using “Bind Edit” which we are going to explain later, adding those columns are required.
Step 3: Change multi-post publish/modified date
Using bulk edit to bulk edit publish date and change multi-post publish date
Changing multi-post publish/ modified dates is really simple and quick by using the “Bulk Edit” form in our plugin. After, filtering your custom post,
you just need to:
- Open the “Date & Type” tab from the “Bulk edit” form.
- Click on the box in front of the “Date published” field.
- Pick your date from the displayed “Calendar“.
- Click on the “Do bulk edit” button.
Using bind edit to change multi-post publish date
Another way for changing multi-post published or modified dates at the same time is using “Bind edit”. As we mentioned before, to use the “bind edit” option, you have to add the columns you need to be edited to the post table as we have already done for published and modified date columns.
Now to quickly change multi-post published or modified date you need to follow the below actions:
- Select the proper posts by marking their checkboxes.
- Mark the checkbox next to “Bind Edit”.
- Click on the “published date” column of one of the selected posts.
- Pick a date from the displayed “Calendar”.
- Push “Enter” on the keyboard.
Then you can see all published or modified dates of those selected posts will be changed simultaneously by the plugin.
